Meeting Minutes

Wednesday, August 29, 7:01 pm the meeting was brought to order by Noah Riley.
Two Additions were made to the agenda and a motion to approve was made by Gary Grossweiler with a 2nd by Mike Hagen.  The motion was approved.

Secretaries Report:

The minutes from the July 25, 2007 meeting were read by the board and a motion to approve the minutes was made by Duane Salberg and 2nd by Jim Ebert.  Motion Carried.

 

Treasurers Report:   Gary Grossweiler handed out a summary of the checking account and gave a brief synopsis.   Gary has also completed the “house cleaning” and record reorganization for the treasurer information.

Current members are 177 strong.

A motion to approve the treasurer’s report was made by Jim Ebert with a 2nd by Duane Salberg.   The motion carried.

 

 

 

OLD BUSINESS: 

a) Past Director Gifts were distributed by Noah Riley.   Thank you Noah!

            b) D & O Insurance issue was addressed, but with some board members missing it was decided to table until we have all of the members present and all of the information.

            c)  Budget – a discussion was held by all of the committees regarding there financial needs for the upcoming year.   Gary Grossweiler will finalize a budget for the September meeting.  
 
           

COMMITTEE REPORTS: 

Adopt A Highway:  Mary DuCharme – No Report.

Annual Meeting:   Gary Grossweiler - We will confirm the picnic date of June 14th with the Galaxy and the church, in case of inclement weather.   

Communication/Directory:  Barb Eckert showed the board some options for the 2008 lake directory.   She will gather further information and report next month.

Finance:  Gary Grossweiler - Preparation of the budget will be done for the September meeting.

Fishery: Jim Ebert – No new regulations have been implemented on Star Lake.  Jim has been doing some inquiries regarding slot limits and selective harvest.

Lake Preservation and Protection:  Glen Shaw - No Report.

Membership: Duane Salberg – A discussion was held on raising the dues.    Jim Ebert made a motion that we table the raising of the dues until the May meeting with a 2nd by Mike Hagen.   Motion Carried.

Water Quality:  Ruth Kapaun - No Report.

Water Safety:  Duane Salberg gave a report on the buoy marker situation as far as replacement and our liability.   He stated that after visiting with the County Attorney and the Sheriff’s Office for Ottertail County, both parties informed him that the Board members, the members of the SLPOA and himself can/will be liable if there is an accident in regards to the placement of the buoys.  He informed the board that he will not put out the buoys because of this issue and that the D & O insurance that we are currently considering “might” eliminate the liability somewhat.
However, after further discussion, a motion was made by Duane Salberg to put all of the buoy costs and the cost of our D & O insurance in the budget.  The motion was 2nd by Gary Grossweiler.   The motion was approved.

 Web Site:  Aubrey Ebanks – Aubrey is working on a new and better website, hopefully it will be up in a couple of months.

 

NEW BUSINESS:   Various mail matters.   Receipt of COLA agenda and minutes.   They can be viewed at www.ottertailcola.com.      

  

OTHER BUSINESS:  None.
