Meeting Minutes

  Saturday, May 5th    9:00 am

 

The meeting was brought to order by Glen Shaw.

 

A motion to approve the Agenda was made by Noah Riley with a 2nd by Gary Sheldon. The motion was approved.

 

                 Secretaries Report:

 

The minutes from the April meeting were read by the board and a motion to approve the minutes was made by Gary Sheldon and 2nd by Pete Pederson.   Motion Carried.

 

The Annual Meeting Minutes were handed out last month and no changes were suggested by the board.  They will be approved by the membership at the June Annual meeting.

 

 

  Treasurers Report:   None.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS: 

 

a) April News Letter – Has been sent.   A Big thanks to Jody and Glen Shaw.  251 Letters were sent out.  

 

 

                        b)  Other – None.

 

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS: 

 

Adopt A Highway:  Saturday, May 5th   at 11:00am was chosen as the clean-up date and will progress pending any bad weather. 

 

Annual Meeting:   June 16th, 2007.

 

Bruce Pfalzgraff from the Game Wardens office will be our featured speaker.   He will also contact the Sheriffs office about having someone at the picnic.

 

Mary DuCharme, Glen Shaw and Barb Eckert will stop at the Galaxy to firm up the plans today, right after the board meeting.

 

Glen Shaw and Barb Eckert will take care of the Agenda; Don Herron will prepare the Treasurers report.  Ballots and Meal tickets will be printed also.

 

Nominations committee has been contacted – Dick York, Stu Pederson and John Richards have all agreed to participate.

 

Audit committee - Gene Hagstrom and Dennis Cornelius have agreed to do the audit.

 

Any private vendors that would like to have a booth or display (pertaining to lake management or fisheries) at the annual meeting should contact the board for more information.  The board does not endorse any of the vendors.

 

Communication:  Thanks again to Glen and Jody Shaw for getting the news letter out.  No other report at this time.

 

Finance:  Don Herron was unavailable for a report.

Fishery: Milt Lorenz was unavailable for a report.   Glen Shaw reported that we are still waiting for the results of the 2006 survey. 

 

Glen Shaw has been in contact with Bruce Winterfeldt of the DNR.  He was contacted regarding the Two (2) Public accesses on the lake.   The cabins are for sale on the Highway 108 public access, if you are interested contact the DNR.  The construction of the Highway 108 site will start in 2008.  

 

The Quiram access (Beaver Dam Road) building is scheduled for demolition and abatement this year.   

 

Both accesses will be black top facilities.

 

Water Quality Committee and Fisheries Committee will keep on top of these areas and the DNRs plans.

Lake Preservation and Protection:  Glen Shaw –  The committee will be gathering to identify sensitive areas on the lake and discuss the options available, such as a no wake zones, no motor zones, slow zones or channel traffic etc.

 

We will be asking and encouraging the membership, at the annual meeting, to participate in suggesting and planning the need for such zones in the South arm of the lake.  We will be working on one area at a time.

Membership: Mary DuCharme – DuCharmes Corner Store will have membership forms available.   Nothing else to report.

Water Quality: Gary Sheldon - Our testing equipment is ready to go.  We will be spending approximately $250 on testing this season.   This year there will be 5 sites for water clarity checking.

  

The Soil, Water and Conservation District have hired Garry Johansen as the new Shore land Specialist.  He is able to assist land owners in any Shore land restoration and Erosion Control.

 

The Conservation district is working on a land management/use plan for Ottertail County.   Gary Sheldon made a motion for the board to support this concept with a 2nd by Pete Pederson.   The motion carried.  A discussion was held.

Water Safety: Pete Pederson – The buoys will be out soon.

 

 

Web Site:  Aubrey Ebanks – No Report. 

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:  Due to rain we have postponed the ditch picking until Tuesday at 6:30pm.
